All maintained school governing bodies and academy trusts have a legal duty to provide all of the governance information requested on this page in so far as it is available to them.

This will increase the transparency of governance arrangements. It will enable schools and the department to identify more quickly and accurately individuals who are involved in governance, and who govern in more than one context.

Delegated authority of local governing body

The Local Governing Body (LGB) operates under the Trust's Scheme of Delegation. The LGB has delegated responsibility for providing local governance oversight, supporting and challenging school leaders, monitoring educational performance, safeguarding, pupil welfare and stakeholder engagement. Through its knowledge of the school community, the LGB helps ensure that local priorities and the needs of pupils are understood and reflected across the Trust. The LGB reviews progress, seeks assurance on key areas of school performance and provides constructive challenge where appropriate. Whilst exercising the responsibilities delegated to it, ultimate accountability for the strategic direction, financial oversight, statutory compliance and overall performance of the Trust and its schools remains with the Board of Trustees. The LGB provides local assurance to the Trust Board, supporting effective governance, continuous improvement and positive outcomes for pupils.
