Legal duty to provide governance information

All maintained school governing bodies and academy trusts have a legal duty to provide all of the governance information requested on this page in so far as it is available to them.

This will increase the transparency of governance arrangements. It will enable schools and the department to identify more quickly and accurately individuals who are involved in governance, and who govern in more than one context.

The information requested says nothing in itself about a person's suitability to govern. However, it is essential information for the department to be able to uniquely identify an individual and in a small number of cases conduct checks to confirm their suitability for this important and influential role.

Delegated authority of local governing body

The Local Academy Board has been granted the following delegated authority: Pastoral oversight to support the students, staff and whole Trust community in removing “Barriers to Learning,” with the primary focus that all young people in the Trust are able to learn and develop to their full potential in a safe and secure learning environment, and to make appropriate comments and recommendations on such matters to the Board of Trustees on a regular basis; Initial analysis and interpretation of school performance data, holding the Principal and staff to account for performance across all groups of students, and reporting into the S&A Committee. In addition, the Local Academy Board has delegated authority for all associated policies. Please see the Schedule of Delegation on the Schools' website for details of these.
